How We Met

Tim and I met on a class trip to France (I took Spanish at the time, but could never resist a chance to travel) when we were in high school. We realized later that we only lived about 5 minutes from each other but had never met before. Fast forward seven years and we’ve changed a lot but never stopped making each other laugh! I knew a proposal might be coming soon because we had just moved to New York for my job, started really living on our own since college, and it was almost the Christmas season (my favorite). Tim and I had just gone home for Thanksgiving to spend time with our families and we were trucking a Christmas tree to our studio apartment all the way from Philadelphia because I wanted a real tree. Tim had been hinting about grand plans to go see the tree at Rockefeller Center, having a fancy dinner out, and maybe ice skating when we started to pull out of box of Christmas ornaments. We propped up our little Philadelphia Christmas tree up against our windows near the bedroom area of our little apartment and began placing the ornaments we’d bought each other each Christmas since we first started dating on the tree. I couldn’t help getting a little teary eyed because it was our first tree together, something we had talked about since we were about 16 years old! I went into the kitchen and when I cam back Tim told me he’d put an ornament I forgot on the tree. I went to look because I couldn’t think of which one I missed and saw the small lid of a jeweler box hanging off a branch. I spun around and Tim was down on one knee with the bottom of the box and a ring in his hand. He said he’d told me he loved me seven years ago and he couldn’t have imagined ever loving me more all those years ago, but he was wrong and would I be his best friend for the rest of my life – I said yes, of course! I am so excited to marry my best friend and spend the rest of our lives making each other laugh :)
