Mary and Eric
How We Met
Eric and I met at a party through mutual friends. He was completely shy and we didn’t talk much at all so I didn’t think much of it. The second time we ran into each other we hit it off more, talking easily and having a good time. When I went to hug him goodbye though, he completely froze! I thought I totally misread his signals and brushed it off once more. Finally at our friend’s wedding the next summer when I spotted him as the best man on the altar looking handsome, I knew I had to get to the bottom of it. I strategically placed myself behind him in the drink line and put all my charms on and we had a really fun night together. When I didn’t see him to say goodbye, I thought I blew it for the third time. I sent him a facebook message as a leap of faith and the next morning to my surprise in my responses was his phone number. The rest was history!
How He Asked
The weeks leading up until Christmas are always a bit stressful as teachers and not only was the 7th grade craziness in full swing. That along with graduate classes in education had me more than a little stressed out. Eric suggested that we go down and try out my favorite restaurant in Rittenhouse Square, Parc, with two of our friends. After being stuck in traffic for over an hour, we finally made it down. As we walked through Rittenhouse Square towards the restaurant Eric stopped to admire the beautiful Christmas trees they have up. He told me today was an important day and another important day was when we met. He said it was an important day because that was they day he found his other half, his partner in crime, the day his life became complete. He said there was only one way today could be better than that day. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and we hugged as the people surrounding us cheered. After the hubbub died down I suggested we go to the dinner we were already late for. At this point he informed me that we weren’t going to dinner after all and both of our families were waiting back at my house with a big surprise party.
