Gia and Jordan's Marriage Proposal at Top of the Rock
How We Met
Jordan and I met when we were freshmen in college, and I guess you could say it was love at first sight… at least for one of us. To this day, I still don’t know what I was thinking, turning down the most thoughtful, handsome, hardworking, and selfless guy I know. Jordan ended up graduating a year early so I thought I had definitely missed that boat. But during my senior year I ran into him at a local bar. We talked for no more than five minutes but the next day I just knew I had to ask him to my last sorority semi formal. He was very hesitant being how things had gone three years prior, but thankfully he couldn’t say no to free food and an open bar. I’d say it was definitely the best decision either of us ever made because we’ve been together ever since!!
How He Asked
Jordan has always been really good at surprises, He never does anything small or forgettable, but this was by far his biggest and best surprise yet. A few months prior to his proposal, Jordan had planned a trip to NYC which was pretty typical of him, so of course I didn’t think anything of it. We spent the day enjoying our favorite city and he tricked me into thinking his friend had scored some free tickets to the Top of the Rock – where we had gone on our first real date. By the time we got to the top it was pouring rain, but he gave me his sweatshirt and somehow managed to get me to go outside anyway. The view was just as incredible as I had remembered it to be, even through all the rain and the fog.
Meanwhile, I had no idea what was about to happen. Soon enough he pulled me close, told me how much he loved me and how much he always would.. And after that, everything else became a blur… I didn’t even notice the photographers behind us or the people cheering around us.
In that moment, it felt like we were the only two people in the world.
He got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever, then he pointed out our friends and family who had been secretly watching from above the entire time!!!!
It was perfect.
