Marissa and Trevor

How We Met: I first saw him when he was my substitute seminary teacher at Mountain View High School. He had a sister my age that found out I thought he was cute. For a while I was known to him as the highschool girl who thought he was cute. Once I got up to college, I was hanging out with a group of my friends and he happened to show up to that little shindig. From there on out, we kept falling in love with each other.

How He Asked: We were not planning on getting engaged until around the end of March so I thought. We had this big trip planned with a bunch of our friends to my ranch in Evanston, Wyoming. So on that Friday we headed up to the ranch with our crew. We got up there at about 9 pm. We first started playing games with our group of friends and then one of our friends suggested we play this game where the girls are blindfolded and the boys go hide in the old cabins and we had to find them. It was like a game of hide and seek but with blindfolds. Some of the people got the girls into trucks and drove us around well the boys went and hid. As soon as the boys were ready, they drove us to our starting point. I got out of the car and then someone was helping me find the boy (my boyfriend) I was paired with.

He had been making coyote noises because that was my clue to finding him. I found him and then he took me inside the cabin to the middle of the floor. I was still very confused as to what was happening. Then the song “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran came on, which was our song. We sat there hugging each other shaking.

The chorus came on, and the christmas lights that decorated the cabin came on. I was in such awe. He got down on his knee and said, “Marissa, I can’t imagine life without you. You make me so happy. I love you so much. Will you marry me?” Of course after trying to hold all of my emotions back I managed to say yes. It was so perfect because I wanted the moment to be ours but also to be able to share it with the people I love. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!
