Marissa and Kyle
How We Met
We met on a pub-crawl called “Nerds Night Out”. We made small talk and neither of us thought anything of it. We then spoke with our mutual friends and it turned out we had mentioned one another throughout the night. We ended up going on a group date, and the rest is history.
How He Asked
He and I had been together for 4 years before he proposed, we did tonnes of ring shopping and I changed my mind constantly. I had finally settled on one, and was going away to do my internship in a couple of weeks and there was no sign of a proposal happening before then or so I thought…One day Kyle suggested going for breakfast to this bistro (that he had said he hated), but the past few weeks he had been sending me snap chats from meals he had eaten there claiming he really liked it and it was his new favorite spot. Little did I know, he still didn’t like it there but he had just been sending me snaps to make me think he did so it would work out in his proposal :) There we went for breakfast, when we were close to being finished eating, he told me his friend was playing this online game where you had to hit “portals” and that we needed to go hit one for him, so I agreed and we set out on our walk. We walked for a good 40 minutes and I saw no end in sight. We finally came up to this spot and Kyle said look there’s something out in the water, so I looked not seeing anything but when I turned around there he was on his knee with the ring box opened, and used my full name and asked me to marry him. I didn’t believe it at first and was asking him questions, when he finally said so is that a yes? I said yes and he put the ring on my finger. He then went to a nearby bush and grabbed a backpack his co-worker had previously stashed filled with a blanket, champagne, glasses, and orange juice. We sat riverside drinking mimosas. He then later confessed that he never liked the bistro but had to make me think he did for it to work out in the proposal. He then later explained he had a nail appointment booked for me, followed by supper on the river, and a night at one of my favorite hotel.
We now almost a year and a half later have tied the knot on December 5, 2015!
