How We Met
We met through mutual friends in Hoboken, NJ. We were in line for a bar and as soon as he saw me, he asked me to marry him right then and there. Obviously it was a joke, due to the courage brought on by a few alcoholic beverages, but I never forgot him after that. I was in a relationship at the time, so we went our separate ways, but fate had its way of working out. After pursuing me for quite some time after my relationship ended, I finally gave him a chance when we became neighbors down the shore for summer. My best friend started to date his best friend (who also pursued her for quite some time before she gave him a chance) and 5 years later they are married, we are engaged and my best friend and I are the greatest victory our significant others ever achieved (they love to remind us of how long they tried to win us over)!
How He Asked
I always told him, I didn’t care when and I didn’t care where, as long as it was a surprise. I figure EVERYTHING out and it’s really hard to get anything past me. On top of that, he’s the worst liar in the world, so I never thought he’d pull it off. On Valentine’s Day he took me to Lavo, where we had our first date 5 years prior, and I thought nothing of it. Much to my surprise, he had planned it purposely, knowing I wouldn’t suspect anything, given the day. He was pretty nervous on the walk to the restaurant and before going inside, he pulled me aside and asked me to marry him. I was in complete shock and overjoyed that he pulled it off! The only thing he forgot to do was get down on one knee (due to nerves) but I reminded him before saying yes!
