Marina and Alex
Alex and I have known each other since we were 12 years old. We met at a church summer camp. He always says that when he first saw me he knew I was the girl for him. Sadly, like in many love stories the timing was not right. However, 10 years later the Lord allowed our paths to cross again and we fell in love. It truly is a magnificent mysterious love story. There is a quote by Jane Austen and it describes our love perfectly. “There could have been no two hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison.” Alex is more than just my prince charming & knight & shining armor…he is the love of my life and I am so happy that we waited for each other.
This picture was taken when we were in our mid teens. (He still liked me but was really scared to tell me)
How he asked: On January 24, 2015 after a wonderful dinner at Raintree in St. Augustine. Alex and I decided to take a walk around this beautiful Catholic church and the Mission Nombre De Dios Museum. It was a super cold night but our funny jokes and warm blanket was all we needed. We looked at the stars and stared at the beautiful white cross shining brightly across the lake. It was a magnificent night. The moon could not have shinned any brighter. All of a sudden, Alex feels his pocket and says, “I think I forgot my phone in the restaurant.” I got a little bit worried and suggested that we go back to the car and check if his phone is there. I grab the blanket and start quickly power walking to the car. Alex started acting a little bit strange and says, “Wait Marina, I know this is not the right time but there is a question I want to ask you.” I was so concerned about his phone that I thought what could be so important that you need to ask me right now. All of a sudden I turn around and he is standing on one knee holding up that little box. I was so shocked and surprised that it took me some time to realize that he is proposing. It was the most precious & intimate moment. Of course I said, “YES”! We prayed and then I started crying tears of joy. It was a beautiful moment & it will forever be in our hearts.
The day he proposed: January 25, 2015 at 8:50 pm.
Our family was very excited when we told them.
