Marriage Proposal Ideas in Siesta Key Beach, Florida at sunset

How We Met

University of St. Thomas, Minnesota: We are so thankful for choosing the same college! We met through mutual friends in the fall of 2011. We started out as friends that would go to the same house gatherings. Then in the spring of 2013, he started to text me more often and invited me to gatherings that he was going to. I almost missed my chance at falling in love with him, because I thought he was a little too short for me, but in reality, he is actually 3 inches taller than me, so I am thankful this didn’t actually hold me back. We finally spent time together just the two of us in April, 2013. He made us dinner and we watched Pitch Perfect very shy and awkwardly with space between us on the couch. Then three weeks later, on May 12, 2013, we started dating. It is so crazy to think how far we have come since we first started dating. Now, he is truly my best friend, and I couldn’t picture my life without him!

How He Asked

Siesta Key, Florida: We went for a 4 day weekend getaway to spend the weekend with my sisters and parents. We had amazing weather and enjoyed relaxing on the beach during the 80 degree days. On March 12, 2017, we went down to the beach to watch the sunset. I was taking pictures of my sister with my parents, and all of a sudden, she was taking pictures of me. I turned around and Connor was down on one knee behind me, and said “Mariah Rae Eystad, will you marry me?” I said “YES!” And the entire thing was caught on camera from my sister. Then we celebrated by popping champagne on the beach, and took pictures at sunset as a newly engaged couple!
