How We Met

I first met Nick when he walked into the Camp Daniel dining hall when I was fifteen. We were friends for the next three years until I invited the Camp Daniel family to my graduation party. Nick came down to surprise me two days before I graduated. I was not planning on going to camp this year and Nick wanted to come down to see my family and I before not seeing us for an entire year. The day after I turned 18, Nick took me on a walk down the Radcliffe, IA streets (my hometown) and told me that he would like to see where a relationship would go (Nick still says that this was the moment he knew he would marry me). We decided that just getting to know each other the whole summer would be a good place to start before seeing each other on August 2nd when I come up for camp.

It was only in God’s hands that our relationship started on August 4th, 2015.

After a semester of being at different schools I moved up to Emmaus Bible College and our love only grew stronger with short distance. Around February we picked out a ring and after this it was only a five month wait to finally call this man my fiancee. Then Friday of the 3rd week came along during our internship and Nick got down on one knee in front of my Camp Daniel family, my family, and his family. It was in the exact spot I first saw him 4 years earlier. (The video will tell it all). I could not be more in love and happy about spending the rest of my life with the man of my dreams.

How He Asked

After a semester of being at different schools I moved up to Emmaus Bible College and our love only grew stronger with short distance. Around February we picked out a ring after only dating for about 7 months of dating.

Then Friday of the 3rd week of camp for people with disabilities where we spent all summer interning came along. During the Friday’s at camp, I usually have the job of doing nails for the campers for their big “prom night”. All of the fellow staff knew Nick’s plans, but kept it a secret. We usually wear crazy outfits, but for some reason I chose to dress down for the night (thank goodness I did.)

This camp is so special to us that it only seemed fitting to have one of the biggest moments of our lives be spent here. After we all ate dinner, the interns for the year get up to slow dance to get the dancing part of the night started. Little did I know, everyone was dispersing off the floor and our song “Forever Like That” by Ben Rector and spotlights came on.

Nick got down on one knee in front of my Camp Daniel family, my family, and his family.
