Marriage Proposal Ideas in Central Park Zoo, New York City

How We Met

Sean and I met in 2010 at St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, New York where we were both pursuing our bachelor’s degrees. Our first encounter was in the Clinton Washington G train station where I had dropped my cell phone down the subway stairs and Sean/friends missed the approaching train to wait for me and help.

After going on a Valentine’s Day date, we started officially dating on February 23rd 2010.

How He Asked

Beginning around our 7 1/2 year anniversary in August 2017, Sean started giving me themed puzzle pieces that were collectively putting together photos from our 7 1/2 year relationship. All the pieces to each section of the puzzle were in individual themed bags that I received during special moments leading up to proposal day.

On October 22nd 2017, Sean brought me to the Central Park Zoo where we were supposed to see the penguins – who mate for life. This was right after I completed the most recent section of the puzzle – two pictures of penguins embracing each other.

As we walked up to the penguin exhibit, I found our almost complete puzzle on the bench outside with one of our favorite songs playing in the background. Sean and I finished the final section of the puzzle that read “Will you marry me?” He got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Of course I said yes to my soulmate!

We’re officially engaged and planning to get married on our 9 year anniversary, February 23rd 2019!!
