Madeline and Scott

Proposal Ideas Lake Nacimiento, CA

How We Met

Scott and I met our senior year of high school when we were cast in our spring musical during our senior year of high school. Scott asked me to prom (as friends), and I said yes. Our first date was going to get Scott’s tux for the dance.

We were crowned prom queen and king (see photo!), and the rest was history. 6 years, a few college degrees, and lots of dances later, here we are!

How He Asked

All of our best friends were in town to do our annual friends trip. This year, we decided to go to my favorite place–the lake where I grew up going with my family. Months before, Scott asked me, “what is your favorite place in the world?” Without a doubt, I answered, “the lake”. On the second day, we were on the lake, we boated all day and came back up to the cabin to play cards.

Scott’s sister took us down to the water at sunset to take photos (she’s a photographer, so this was not suspicious to me at all!). She started out by taking group photos, then began taking couples aside. Scott and I were the last couples to get our photos taken. As we were being told to look out at the water and for me to put my head on his shoulder, Scott’s hand was behind his back holding a ring box.

Moments later, he got down on one knee in front of our best friends and our families and with tears in his eyes said, “Madeline, I want to serve you, love you, and laugh with you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?”

The rest of the night, we celebrated with our favorite people and cried tears of joy making plans for the rest of our lives together. June 29, 2018, will forever be my favorite day in the history of Maddy and Scott.
