Maddie and Trevor

How We Met

I met Trevor close to 10 years ago. He played on my brother’s soccer team growing up, so you bet I was at every game cheering him on. I always had a crush on him, but never thought anything would actually happen with us. We went on one date when I was sixteen and then he served a two year LDS mission in the Philippines. When he came back, I went to his homecoming talk that first Sunday and I fell in love all over again. That night he got my number from his mom and texted me to thank me for coming and to ask me on a date. The rest is history (;

How He Asked

On Sunday, June 11 we had a couple family parties to attend. The last one was at Trevor’s grandpas house. His grandpa’s health was declining and saying goodbye to him that night was really hard, especially for Trev. He asked if I wanted to go on a ride up to Snow-basin Resort and I said, “Of course!” I didn’t think anything of it and literally had no idea what was coming. When we got up there he suggested we hike up to a pretty lookout spot he knew of. I was in a dress and sandals so I kind of discouraged the idea. He seemed pretty persistent so I just went along with it. We started walking up the path and I noticed stakes placed in the ground with pictures attached to them.

Each picture was a memory we had together, so we got to talk about each one as we walked up the trail. When we made it to the lookout spot at the top, he had a blanket set out with a bunch of roses, candles, and lanterns. He told me all the things he likes about me and how he cannot wait to start a life with me. He then got down on one knee and popped the question. It was the perfect proposal and I honestly had no idea it was possible to be that happy. He is everything I could possibly want for in a husband and more. I can’t wait to spend forever with him and see where all our adventures take us!
