Lyndsay and Jeff
How We Met
Jeff and I met when we were 12 & 13 years old and have been pretty much inseparable ever seen- YES it’s true- we’ve been together since 8th grade! We’ve attended middle school, high school and college together (Go Bruins!) and have truly beat all odds against us.
We met at one of Jeff’s oldest friends Bar Mitzvah’s where he originally had caught the eye of my step-sister. In trying to get in touch with him to talk about hanging out as a group, we ended up speaking on the phone and IM’ing constantly (it was the AOL AIM messaging days). When he came to visit my middle school a few months later in anticipation of attending- I saw him for the first time in person since we had met months ago and I thought he was adorable.
It was on the official first day of 8th grade at our school that he came up to me, tapped me on the shoulder and said “hi”. From that day on we were pretty much inseparable- granted, much of our communication for the first couple years consisted of passing notes in class and chatting online, I never would have imagined that at 12 years old I would have met my future husband. I am so excited to be marrying my absolute best friend and can’t wait for what the future holds!
How He Asked
Our engagement actually had a horribly unplanned twist that made for a very funny story! It was New Year’s Eve and I was getting ready to leave the house to get my hair blown out when Jeff alerted me to the toilet having some issues. I grew really frustrated when I realized I would need to make an emergency trip to Target- totally was not something I had on my agenda! I swung by Dry Bar (hair turned out fabulous!) and then went to Target. As I went into the line to pay for my plunger and Draino- the cashier looked at me and said “this doesn’t look good”- I was mortified! I swung open the door to our apartment and did not even look around before I started rambling on about the cashier, how he embarrassed me, what he said about the plunger, etc. until I realized I wasn’t getting a response and there was my favorite song playing in the background. Wait, and the entire fireplace had candles lining it, lit beautifully. I was so confused! Jeff was swaying back and forth dressed up in my favorite sweater of his and looked so strange. I did not put two and two together until he smiled at me and brought the ring box out from behind his back. I immediately started crying and jumping up and down- Jeff and I had been together since 8th grade and I cannot even describe how happy, excited and lucky I felt to be in this moment. He got down on one knee and the rest is history- who knew a plunger would have such meaning to me for the rest of my life! I wouldn’t have it any other way :-)
