Lorenza and Louis' Maternity Shoot Marriage Proposal
How We Met
Louis and I met during our sophomore year of college at USF St Petersburg. Through mutual friends and various parties, we started to get to know each other around November of 2011.We immediately got along, bonding over our love for the New York Giants. Over the next couple of months, we started hanging out more and more and he even took me to my first hockey game (Go Lightning)!
In the following years, Louis and I shared so many perfect moments together. From volunteering at the Special Olympics each year, to college football games, graduating college together, traveling to places like Vegas, Morocco and his family’s place in Mexico, and to the endless hockey games (I’m a huge fan now!), we spent the best moments of the past five years with one another.
How He Asked
Fast forward to December 2015! Louis and I had been living together for a few years and were now both teaching full-time and pursuing our Master’s in education. We were excited about the future and spending it together. And on December 29th, we received a slight surprise – I was pregnant! Although we may not have been expecting this surprise, it filled us with excitement and could not wait to meet our little man due in August!
January 15th, 2016- We announced to our friends and family that we were having a baby on my 25th birthday!
Our best friends, Jenna and Jason, decided to plan our maternity shoot for us, since they knew the perfect photographer. We set the date for May 7th. Even though I would only be about 25 weeks pregnant at that time, she wanted to be able to use the pictures for the baby shower. I was worried that my belly wouldn’t be big enough for the maternity pictures, but since they lived four hours away, it was the perfect opportunity to drive over and spend the weekend with them anyway.
On Friday, Louis and I left work right when the bell rang and headed to Boynton Beach, FL. The four of us went to dinner that night, excited to catch up and to celebrate Louis’s birthday that had just passed (Cinco De Mayo). Jenna had set up a nail appointment for us the next morning and a make-up artist to help me get ready for the shoot! Jenna and Jason own their own make-up company called Tat2U Makeup, so I was excited to spend the day getting pampered with my best friend and didn’t think anything of it. The boys were excited to hang out and go to the gym, etc while we were gone.
After a morning of manis/pedis, make-up, and girl time, I couldn’t wait to get to the maternity shoot. We met the guys at around 4:30 and headed to Delray Beach. It could not have been more wonderful of a day. The weather was beautiful, the breeze was perfect.
Kevin, our photographer, was great and got us started right away. After about 10-15 minutes of pictures, he instructed us to walk up this path on the beach. Louis and I were standing back to back, and Kevin told us to look into the distance. I had my hand on my belly, and was so excited at the view/background of these pictures.
I couldn’t even begin to imagine how perfect this whole moment was really about to be. As I turned around, I looked at Louis and then I noticed it. There was a ring in his hand and he got down on one knee. I started crying, shaking, trying so hard to concentrate on what he was saying, but all I could think about was that this was it! The love of my life, the father of my child, was asking me to marry him and I couldn’t wait to say YES!
