Lisa and Salomon
How We Met
We first met my sophomore year of college and Salomon’s junior year at the University of North Texas by complete accident. Salomon had but together a dine-in event for his fraternity and I decided to attend at the last minute right with a couple of my sisters. When we showed up at the restaurant Salomon and a few of his brothers were sitting outside handing out flyers for the event, not knowing exactly who they were we all confused Salomon with another guy and I just happened to be the one to call him the wrong day and he never let me live it down. A day or so after that encounter Salomon reached out to me and said if I could get his name right he would treat me to lunch. After that, we continued going on dates until we officially started dating on December 1st, 2014. Two and a half years later we are happily engaged and planning the wedding of our dreams!
How He Asked
Our engagement story started out on mine and Salomon’s road trip to Colorado Springs. We had been planning to go there for months for our last spring break together before he graduated. We woke up bright and early and started the 10-hour car ride to our Airbnb. While I had a feeling that something might happen on this trip since we had been talking about it for a while but I wasn’t 100% sure. Throughout the drive, I did not notice anything weird Salomon and I split the drive one driving one sleeping or talking to the other. Half way through we stopped for breakfast and I still did not notice anything strange about his behavior he was calm and collected the whole time. Apparently, he was freaking out the whole time but he did a damn good job hiding it. A few hours before we got to our destination Salomon pulled into a gas station and woke me up, he asked me if I had to go get a snack or anything when I told him no he practically threw me out of the car, thinking it was weird I got out and went inside the gas station. I, later on, found out that he was trying to make sure that the ring was secure in his pocket for when we got to Colorado Springs. When we finally arrived in Colorado Springs we were a couple hours early from when were allowed to check in to our Airbnb so we decided to go to Garden of the Gods. At first, when I suggested this to Salomon he was super against it and didn’t want to go, little did I know he had planned to propose at Garden of the Gods later that week and did not want to ruin the plan he had already come up with. In the end, we agreed to go to Garden of the Gods to kill time before we could check in to our place. Once we arrived at Garden of the Gods we found a random pull out and a trail and began hiking. We found a spot to hike up some rocks and before that happened Salomon told me to stop, but being me I wanted to keep going not thinking that he was trying to propose to me at the very moment I decide to turn the corner and start climbing up the rocks. As I was climbing he started asking me where I went and told me to wait for him and I told him no and told him to climb up because I found a good spot to look out over the rest of Garden of the Gods. While I was looking at the view I heard Salomon coming up behind me so when I turned around and saw him on one knee my first thought was that he fell so naturally I freaked out and he kindly told me to shut up since I was ruining his whole proposal. I then realized what was actually happening and completely froze, Salomon told me about how much he loved me and how he couldn’t imagine his life with out me and that’s when he asked me to be his wife and partner for the rest of our lives. I was so shocked and so excited that I do not think that words came out at first but after lots of hugging, “oh my gods”, and kisses I finally was able to say yes! That was the happiest moment of my life and I couldn’t be more excited to be marrying my best friend and love of my life!
