Lindsey and Brandon
How We Met: Brandon and I first met in the summer of 2008. I had just started a summer job and became friends with someone else who just started working there, Jen. She would tell me about one of her guy friends that she wanted me to meet. I finally did when him and a bunch of his friends went out for his birthday. It was a very special day because it happened to be the day in between our birthdays! We always have the best time together going to exploring places, just hanging out and being there for each other.
How He Asked: Brandon proposed on Valentine’s Day 2014. We have been dating for years, I always thought I would be able to figure out when it would happen! I literally didn’t see it coming..at all! So Brandon hadn’t told me any plans for the day except that we would be staying in Boston for the night. We normally do a nice dinner on Valentine’s Day, so I figured that would be what was happening. He picks me up, gives me 2 dozen beautiful roses, and we were on our way! On our way into the city, we pass the exit we normally take for Castle Island, South Boston. Castle Island is a beautiful place right outside of the city, home of Fort Independence. Gorgeous views of the ocean and city. We have been here plenty of times during the Spring and Summer. As we drive by, I say ” I wish it was a little warmer so we could stop by Castle Island”. Brandon says, “Why don’t we stop by, even for just a few minutes.” I did not see this as unusual, and we take the exit. As we pull into the parking lot, we agree to walk around a bit and then exchange gifts once finding a nice spot. We find a spot right in front of the water, where it is sunny. I give him his gift first, Blue Man Group tickets. And then, he gives me mine. I start unwrapping it, and as I am opening, notice it is a picture frame with 4 pictures inside. The first picture- he took in front of the first place we met, the second-our first date, the third- where he first told me he loved me, and the last- where we would be eating dinner that night. In each picture he was holding up a sign- The first one Will, the second one You and so on. It was so beautiful and thoughtful! I started reading ” Will you” and then realized what was happening and just looked up and he was on one knee!!!
I was in so much shock I am surprised I didn’t drop the frame! He told me I was the most special woman he had ever met, and if I would make him the happiest man in the world by marrying him! I said YES and started crying. I was SO happy and SO surprised. It was absolutely the best day of my life! We ended up calling family and friends, eating at a wonderful restaurant in Boston, and enjoying our first Valentine’s Day, engaged!
