Lindsey and Christian
How We Met
I was on summer break between my freshman and sophomore years of college when I first met Christian. I was out with some of my friends and we were trying to find a bar to go to when I saw him. We are both very tall people (I am 5’11” and he is 6’7″) and even from across the street Christian stood out to me. We locked eyes for a second but my friends didn’t want to go to the bar he was in so reluctantly I followed them down the street and around the corner. To my complete (and happy) surprise the next thing I know Christian is standing in line behind me to get into the bar, unfortunately the bar was 21 and up and I was only 19 at the time so we ended up leaving the line. I thought for sure that I would never even get to talk to the tall, blonde cutie but then he follows me out of line and says “hey, I like your boots.” Not the most romantic pick up line ever but it worked and we started talking. My friends then decide they want to leave this part of town all together and they pull me away from Christian before he can ask for my number. Luckily for me he was persistent and came back up to me while we were waiting for our ride and got my number. I wasn’t sure if he was going to text me but he did right away and we texted all night and the next morning he asked if he could take me out on a date that night. I decided to go for it because he was really cute (even though my friends thought he was going to be a serial killer). I met him that night and he drove us to dinner in an old Astro van (like the ones serial killers drive) with a dirt bike in the back. I was starting to question whether I had made the right decision to go out with him but it ended up being an awesome first date. He took me to a nice Mexican restaurant (my favorite food) and we ended the night cruising around town on a scooter. We have been together for 6 years now and I couldn’t be happier that Christian decided to stalk me of all people ;)
How He Asked
We got the opportunity to go on the vacation of a lifetime this past week, a cruise from Marathon, FL to Nassau, Bahamas with stops in Key Largo, FL and Bimini, Bahamas on a 65′ Hatteras. I was so excited for this vacation and even though Christian and I have been together for a long time and had talked about marriage often I knew he wanted his proposal to be a surprise so I didn’t think he would go for the obvious choice of proposing on this trip. I was wrong of course and he did propose on the bow of the boat.
He accomplished what he set out to do because I was shocked as you can see in the photos. He got everyone on the bow under pretenses of showing us around and then he pointed off in the distance and asked if I could see the airport we just came from. I turned around and looked for it but didn’t see anything and when I turned back around to ask where it was he was down on one knee and asking me to marry him. I said yes immediately and then asked “is this for real?!” I was literally in shock the rest of the day but so incredibly happy to be marrying the man of my dreams. My proposal was, in my opinion, perfect and I will treasure that day and the rest of our vacation forever.
