Lianny and Thomas

How We Met

When I saw Thomas for the first time, I never imagined crossing paths again. I had gone to a rodeo with my best girlfriend and we were headed to a country club when we decided to stop at Publix to use the ATM. That’s when I saw him, he approached me & asked me about pickles.. Pickles, out of all things?! I laughed as I walked away telling him I would see him at RoundUp. To my surprise, he actually went. We exchanged numbers and talked the night away. I thought that was the end of that.

The next morning I woke up to a good morning text. We talked all day everyday. A couple weeks after my dad got very sick and was taken to the hospital, the same hospital where Thomas was working. He invited me on our first official date on May 16. I walked back into the hospital room, with my phone in hand, telling my best friend she had to meet me with my computer so I can start planning my wedding. Nicole, along with my parents, thought I was insane. We had only gone out on one date but sometimes, you just know.

As the months passed, my dad became more ill. Complications, unfortunately, became a somewhat normal thing. It was one thing after the other, but thankfully not only did I have my friends & family, I had Thomas there with me too. I am the youngest, and the only girl, of five children. I am Daddy’s girl, but my dad was giving up. Every chance he could, Thomas would pass by to check on my dad. One day he told him the words I like to believe changed everything,”You can’t die, you can’t give up.. Who is going to walk your little girl down the aisle one day?”

How He Asked

Thomas & I are both ocean junkies. Living in sunny South Florida, you can find us out on the boat every weekend. I did not find it strange or even think twice about going out on the boat on a Thursday afternoon. I was actually the one that pitched the idea of getting dressed up to take nice pictures since most of ours are in swimsuits. We were dancing on the front deck, with the Miami skyline behind us & rays from the sunset beaming in between the buildings & clouds (literally forming a heart) when he looked me in the eyes and said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you”. Die A Happy Man by Thomas Rhett began to play as Thomas got down on one knee.

He told me how he spoke to my dad and received his blessing. It was the greatest moment of my life and I cannot wait to spend forever with my best friend.
