Liana and Michael
How We Met
Michael and I met October 2015 in Miami. One of my friends asked me to go on a yacht with her and a few other people but I was a little hesitant because I wasn’t sure I wanted to go. It’s so crazy to think how my life would have ended up if I passed that day, and if I would have met him elsewhere. Because hey, when it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be :) So, truthfully when we met I could not stand him because I was taking tons of pictures/selfies and he came up to me and said “no phones allowed, I want everyone to enjoy themselves.” I remember coming up to my best friend and saying “who does this guy think he is?!” I don’t remember talking to him much however I noticed he followed me around the whole time we were on the yacht. As the day turned into night we all parted ways and Michael had asked for my number and I gave it to him but it took us a couple months to go on a real date! He had officially asked me to be his girlfriend May 1, 2016 and less than a year later he asked me to marry him! :)
How He Asked
It was almost Valentine’s Day and he kept telling me that he had a surprise trip planned and that we were going to go somewhere but told me I did not need to worry about packing or anything else because it was all taken care of. He usually does things like this so it wasn’t out of the ordinary. Then the day he was proposing to me he was acting extremely strange and totally not himself, I couldn’t put my finger on it. It was Friday, February 12 and he had led me to believe that we were going to a charity event before taking off on “our trip.” I remember us getting ready and I asked why he was acting kinda weird. He said he had to say a speech at the charity event and that he was nervous about it. (Little did I know that speech he was so nervous for and kept rehearsing in his head was for me) I was almost done getting ready and out of nowhere he goes “omg liana you’ll never believe this there’s another leak in our ceiling.” (Btw, we’ve recently moved into a new house and had tons of leaks so him noticing another one was totally normal) I told him to not think about it and worry about it later. He put on an act as if he was extremely pissed off and even faked a phone call to the builder screaming to him over this “fake leak.” So we went up the stairs to our rooftop terrace area to take a look at what was going on, and that’s when I was completely breath taken. There were red roses all over the place, white sand with our initials carved in it, a violinist playing my favorite song, and a photographer capturing every moment. Then Michael starts saying his speech (which both him and I don’t remember what he even said.) And then he pops the question with the most beautiful ring!
And as if that wasn’t enough he told me he had another surprise and as a turn around my parents were coming up the stairs to share this perfect moment with us. (He had flown them out from California to Florida because he knew how important it was to have them there, when that special day came.) His mom as well as his niece were also there, who had kept it a secret the whole time I was with them earlier in the day!
