Lexington and Jared
How We Met
Jared and I met 7 years ago when we were both sophomores in highschool. He went to Cottonwood highschool and I went to Bingham. One day, we both skipped a class and both ended up at our mutual friend Ryan’s house. The day we met I remember exactly what I was wearing and also the exact outfit Jared was wearing. We ended up talking in the next few weeks to come and became friends. Jared then asked me to prom and we went to prom together in February of 2009. After prom, Jared asked me to be his girlfriend but I told him no (What was I thinking?!). I ended up liking him a few months later but sadly he had moved on from me. We lost touch a little bit all throughout highschool but somehow I knew we were always meant to be. I wrote in my journal about Jared the summer of 2009. “It’s like I just need him in my life or else life isn’t the same. I will always like him.” In 2012, a year after we graduated highschool, Jared and I reconnected and have been together ever since September 23, 2012. I have never been happier and wake up everyday wondering if this is really my life. I feel so lucky to be in love with my best friend.
How He Asked
Jared and I were on vacation in San Francisco over New Year’s. On Saturday January 2nd, Jared said he had the entire day planned for us. We woke up and had breakfast at Darren’s Café and then went to Ripley’s believe it or not museum. After that he took me to a marina that had a perfect view of the Golden Gate Bridge. After walking around for a little bit, we drove to the next place which happened to be right by the Bay Bridge. By the Bay Bridge there is a sculpture called “Cupid’s Span” it’s pretty much a sculpture of a bow and arrow. When we got there Jared suggested we get a picture. He went a few feet ahead of me to ask a random guy to take our picture. Next thing I know, Jared is walking towards me and tells me there is a reason he brought me here. He told me that Cupid’s span is considered the heart of San Francisco. He then got down on one knee and I don’t remember much after that due to my complete shock and excitement. I do remember him telling me how I make him the luckiest guy in the world and asking the famous “Will you marry me?” question. The random guy Jared asked to take our picture was actually instructed to take a video of the entire proposal. We celebrated that night by having a fancy expensive dinner and then heading to Chili’s after that to have some molten lava cake to celebrate!
