Letti and Seth
How We Met
At the time I was dating someone else. We were in the same class at Wayland Baptist University. The very first day of class he walked in after me, with a friend, and as soon as he saw me I think he fell in love. Every class, I would be listening to our professor and happen to glance over and catch his staring at me. Most the time he would quickly look away but every now and then he would smile. At the time, I had a boyfriend so I never talked to Seth, but was flattered by him thinking I was pretty. I actually talked to him first though! I worked for the yearbook/photography department at the university and was working on a project and need athletes. Seth had added me in Facebook a while back, and I knew he played baseball for WBU, so I messaged him and asked for help.
He didn’t reply for a while so I lost hope but he eventually messaged me back and said he had been playing in a game and helped me without hesitation. We soon became friends and he was the sweetest and most caring person I had ever met. Soon after my relationship failed with my boyfriend and not long after I started to see Seth in a different way. It wasn’t planned and I wasn’t wanting to date someone else so soon but I couldn’t help fall head over heels for the red-headed baseball pitcher. ❤️ Soon after we started dating I got a lot of snide comments about dating someone so soon after a breakup, but I didn’t let them get to me. I was finally happy, and I think God knew what he was doing when he made us cross paths. He has truly saved me. ❤️
How He Asked
It was a last minute thing, us going. My mother decided she wanted to go ride the trails at Pole Canyon, just outside Quitaque, TX. We rode horses their often but hadn’t had the time to lately. As soon as we found out Seth asked if we could go and she gladly accepted. We started out riding horses at about lunch time on October 22. We rode past a few beautiful creeks and one particular spot had a gorgeous rock with a small pond in front of it. I thought to myself, “That would be the perfect spot for a proposal. I wonder if anyone has proposed there? That would be my ideal spot.” We kept making our way down the trail and decided to turn back before it started getting dark. We eventually got back to that gorgeous rock and my mother suggested us taking a couple picture on it. Seth and I made our way across a stream to the rock and posed for a couple pictures sitting down. Seth suggested me take a couple standing up.
I stood up and dusted off my pants and was focused on my mother across the stream. My mom then said, “Aren’t you going to help him up?” Me being the sassy woman I am I playfully almost said, “He can’t get up on his own,” but decided to help. When I turned around there he was. Down on one knee was handsome as ever, and instantly my hands were covering my mouth because I was so shocked.
All I remember him saying was, “Letti Saige Cheyne,” and then “Will you marry me?” (He said a lot more but I kind of zoned out in shock.) I also thought I said yes but all that came out of my mouth was “Ye…ye…” and then I couldn’t stop nodding my head and smiling. I instantly hugged him and never wanted to let go. Eventually I did, and I saw the most gorgeous ring and was so happy! It was too small for my ring finger so I put it on my pinki for the time being.
Of course my mom got it all on camera except the video has bits of the sky, ground, and horses as they were grazing loose in the background. I could never imagine a more perfect way to be proposed to, or a more perfect person. We are getting married November 18, 2017 in Texas and I could not be more excited to spend the rest of my life with my firefighter/EMT. ❤️
