Lauren and Kyle
How We Met
After years of dating the traditional way, I had decided to give online dating a chance. I traveled quite a bit with work at the time which made it hard to maintain a normal routine and social life or meet new people in my city. While scrolling through Bumble one morning I happened upon a handsome guy with pictures of an adorable puppy drinking a “puppuccino” from Starbucks. We ended up connecting and I started up conversation by inquiring about his puppy (we both have a shared love for animals!). I still remember being so nervous to go on a date with someone that I had met through a dating app. My coworkers all nervously watched me out the window as he picked me up from my office on our very first date to go get sushi and drinks. Kyle is the first and only guy that I ever went on a date with through Bumble, I guess you can say it was meant to be! I knew after just a few months of dating how special he was and that we would spend the rest of our lives together. We both have a shared love of music and after officially dating for 2 months we went to Colorado to celebrate New Years together in the mountains and go to some concerts. He told me he loved me on New Year’s night and I haven’t looked back since.
How He Asked
I had been away in Springfield, Missouri on a large work project for a couple of weeks and was missing Kyle like crazy. I was so looking forward to seeing him over the weekend back in Texas. Little did I know that he had secretly coordinated a surprise trip up to Missouri to surprise me. One afternoon as I was walking through the aquarium with my coworkers, all of a sudden Kyle popped out from behind a wall to surprise me. I was so shocked to see him in Missouri that all I could do was say “Why are you here?!” and give him the biggest hug. At that same moment he got down on one knee in front of my friends and coworkers and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
It was the best and most surprising moment of my life! It meant so much to me that he had involved our parents, friends and coworkers in the planning of our engagement. He even had a photographer set up to capture the moment. Immediately after the proposal we got the chance to walk through the beautiful aquarium just the two of us as the facility is not yet open to the public. I will always remember that quite time together which was so romantic and special for it to be just us. Kyle ended the evening with even more surprises! He had scattered rose petals all over our room and had champagne on ice, along with a steakhouse dinner and night on the town before he flew back to Texas the next morning. It was the most amazing feeling going to Missouri with a boyfriend and leaving with a fiancé!
