Lauren and Zack's Romantic Gazebo Proposal
How We Met: Zack and I met in 2011 at our local community college when he was a freshman and I was a high school senior. I was taking a drawing class at the time and the assignment was to draw a hallway in the art building to practice perspective drawing. My friend Mackenzie and I were working on the project together when two guys that she went to high school with came over and sat with us. I thought one of the guys was cute but he wouldn’t stop talking and cracking jokes, and I was trying to focus on my project, so I didn’t really pay much attention to him.
A few months passed and out of the blue, Mackenzie texted me and said that her friend Zack thought I was cute and wanted my number. He turned out to be the guy that sat with us during drawing class and wouldn’t leave us alone. We started talking and hanging out, and he would sit with me for hours at school and just talk to me when I was working on drawing projects. We became really great friends and I was absolutely smitten with him. After several months of hanging out, we went out to my family’s lake house for the day and he officially asked me to be his girlfriend!
How He Asked: Over the last 3 years, a lot of our time together has been spent at my family’s lake house on Lake Erie. It’s one of our favorite places to hang out during the summer and we’ve shared some great memories there… It’s where Zack first asked me to be his girlfriend and now it’s also the place where he asked me to be his wifey!
Z took me to dinner at a nice restaurant near the lake house and I could tell he was a little nervous. After dinner, he said we should take a walk up to the lake like be usually do. As we walked towards the water, I saw that the gazebo near the lake was decorated with string lights and photos of us. He looked at me and I immediately started crying! We walked over the bridge to the gazebo and I saw it was covered with candles and my favorite flowers, peonies and sunflowers.
We walked into the gazebo, he got down on one knee, told me that he loved me very very much and wanted to spend forever and ever with me. He asked me to marry him and I said “of course!!!!” and he put the most stunning ring on my finger!
I saw that my two best friends, Maddie and Erin, were hiding under some trees taking pictures of the whole thing. Afterwards, my brother came over and we all celebrated with champagne. It was such a blessing having my brother and best friends there to share that special moment with us. I’ve never felt so overwhelmingly loved!
The whole proposal was a dream and I’m so excited to marry Zack and be his wife. He’s the sweetest, kindest, funniest, most loving and supportive man ever and I’m so blessed to call him my fiancé and best friend.
