Lauren and Kevine
How we met: We met at church. I was the new girl and he asked me out three times before I finally said yes. The third time, he asked by slipping a hand-written letter into my mailbox with some of my favorite candy. He said that I was worth the wait and whenever I was ready, he just wanted a chance to get to know me.
How he asked: On the coldest, windiest Sunday in November, he asked me to go for a walk in our favorite park. I thought he was crazy because it was such a cold day, but he seemed so earnest that I didn’t want to disappoint him. I bundled up in a big hat and gloves, and held on tight to his arm. As we circled the park, he reminded me of all the dates and big moments we had there. Here’s where we had our first picnic date, do you remember? And this is the spot where I first held your hand, where we you beat me in Bananagrams for the first time, where I finally worked up the nerve to give you our first kiss. Then he stopped by the little waterfall and said that he hopes we make many more memories like that in our special place, a lifetime of them. With shaky hands, he pulled a box out of his pocket and got down on one knee. I couldn’t believe it was happening! I covered my face with my hands in shock and excitement. It felt like a dream, I couldn’t even hear what he was saying, I just knew that I said YES as soon as his mouth stopped moving. As he put the ring on my finger, I asked him if he could repeat all those sweet things again, and he said Of course, as many times as I want. After all, we have a lifetime.
