How We Met

Eric and I met when we were sophomores in high school. He lived in the country and I lived in the city, so the chances of our paths crossing were 0 to none! My brother grew up in the small town where Eric was from, and he and Eric had a few mutual friends. Eric knew who I was because of Conner, my brother, and jokingly asked him one day to hook us up. Little did we know then it would be anything but a joke! The first time we met in person was at one of Eric’s football games. After the game, Eric, a few other friends and I all went to the town’s sonic to hang out. I knew immediately the feelings I had for Eric were huge, and that he was someone I wanted to spend a long time with. After a few months of dating, Eric’s mother and I had a big fallout.

She forbid Eric from ever seeing me or talking to me again. But of course, being young teenagers and in love, we never listened. Although it was hard and discouraging, going through that made me realize we could go through anything and get through it. After dating for three years, Eric and I found out we were pregnant in September of 2016. We were overjoyed. Our relationship was already so perfect and the thought of adding a little girl to our family made it so much better. I gave birth to our precious Carter Grace on May 4, 2017. She turned out lives upside down and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How He Asked

My best friend Kacee is a photographer and she loves to photograph my daughter and me, so I wasn’t surprised when she asked to do a shoot with Eric, myself, and Carter, my daughter. The day of she came over and took me to get my nails done with the excuse that I “needed time to myself” (it all makes sense now), and helped me with my hair and makeup. Upon leaving, Eric told me he couldn’t find his phone (lie) and to help him look for it. Meanwhile, Kacee took Carter to the car to change her into the outfit that would change my life forever.

She took us to a beautiful park in the middle of Dallas with a small white house. Carter was covered completely with a blanket, so I was still 100% clueless. She found a spot for us to unload our things, and Eric asked me to get Carter out of her car seat. When I uncovered her, I was instantly confused seeing her in a completely different outfit than what I originally dressed her in. I picked her up and read her onesie. “Will you marry Daddy?” It read. I turned around to see the love of my life on one knee, asking me to be his wife. I jumped into his arms and cried my eyes out. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
