How We Met

Drew and I have known each other the majority of our lives. We grew up only a block away from each other. I used to go trick or treating at his house! We’ve attended the same elementary, middle and high school. However, it wasn’t until high school that I sparked a crush. Intramural basketball, my team of my closest girl friends was playing against his team. I spent most of the game day dreaming about Drew and staring at his muscles; I had no interest in paying any attention to the ball. We continued to flirt at intramurals and Drew finally asked me to hang out. Despite him being painfully shy at first, I continued to hang out with him and fall more and more in love. More than six years later and I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

How He Asked

A few months ago, Drew randomly told me I should take off a couple days for work so we could go on a surprise weekend trip. He told me to pack a bag for the beach and not to ask any questions! That’s what I did, and I showed up to the airport not knowing where we were heading. He finally told me we were headed to Fort Lauderdale to visit my best friend and attend the Tortuga Music Festival. I was blown away at this surprise and couldn’t contain my emotions while traveling to Florida. We spent two entire days on the beach enjoying our favorite musicians and having the time of our lives with our best friends. On our last day in Florida, we went to brunch. We had some time to spare after brunch and before going to the last day of the festival. We walked down to the ocean to dip our feet in the water. Drew took my hand and we walked along the water. Little did I know, my best friend and her boyfriend weren’t far behind us with their cameras ready. Drew told me how much he loved me and that he had a question he had been meaning to ask. He got down on one knee and asked the question I had only dreamed of one day being asked.
