How We Met

I met my future husband, Dan, two years ago through a mutual friend. I walked into my friends house saw an extremely tall (He’s 6’4″ and I’m 5′) handsome guy. After our introduction I said “Let’s get a selfie” His response “wouldn’t it be a wefie”. The night continued with him making me laugh non-stop. We were friends for a few months and after getting to know him and how amazing of a person he is I realized he was the man I have waited for my entire life. A true gentleman. He opens all my doors, surprises me with flowers constantly, and treats me like a queen! We moved in together shortly after beginning dating but early own we knew we were meant to be together.

How He Asked

Our first year together was filled with many ups and a lot downs. I lost my grandma (whom I was extremely close to) and before she passed Dan asked , and recorded asking, her to marry me. On her death bed she told me she loved Dan and knew he was the one for me. This was followed with his younger brother being diagnosed with cancer (He is in full remission now) and his mothers cancer coming back. Next up was my medical problems which led to the best proposal ever! I’m 30 years old and on 6/27/16 I had to have my left hip replaced. For months I was in so much pain and Dan stood by my side through it all. Including putting on 30 pounds! About 2 hours after my surgery I started my first walk down the hospital hallway not knowing my life was about to change in the most amazing way. Dan along with my mom, sister, and hospital staff headed down the hall to a window that over looks Pittsburgh.

As I was turning around Dan got on one knee and said “We made it through the worst part of our life together now let’s start the best”. I of course said yes, with many tears in my eyes! I never imagined my proposal would be while I was in a hospital gown, no hair done, no make-up on but it couldn’t have been more perfect! He planned the whole thing with the hospital staffs help. Our wedding is planned for the summer of 2018 at a rustic barn/farm location. It’s the venue of my dreams and I never thought I would be marrying the man of my dreams at the venue of my dreams. Dan has made me a better person and everyday I fall more and more in love with him. I could not have made it through this last 2 years without him. I tell him all the time he is the best thing that has ever happened to me! He is my fairytale come true and I cannot wait to walk down the aisle to him and say I do!
