Laura and Terrie

Laura's Proposal in Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn, NY

How We Met

Terrie and I met in the Summer of 2002 when I was 14 years old. He saw me walking down the street with my friends, pulled me aside and told me he could “make me happier than any other man could.” At the moment I laughed at his pick up line, but I couldn’t resist how cute he was. I was a freshman in high school at the time, and he was a senior. Once we started dating, of course everyone picked on him for dating a “freshman,” but we both didn’t care. After a few months of dating, Terrie finally ask me to be his girlfriend on February 4th, 2003, and we’ve been together ever since. We both went away to college, so we had to go through a long distance relationship for about 7 years. After we both graduated, we moved in together, went to Graduate school, and both became NYC public school teachers. And finally, after almost 14 looonnnggg years, Terrie proposed to me on New Years Eve, January 1st, 2017!

How He Asked

On New Years Eve, Terrie and I, and a couple of our best friends, went to visit our friends in Brooklyn for the night. We all went to dinner and had plans to go to the Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn to watch the NYE fireworks. Once we got there, and the countdown to the new year began, Terrie took me to the side and started telling me how much he loves me and wants to be with me for the rest our lives. When the clock struck 12 and the fireworks began, Terrie got down on one knee, and proposed! This was the moment I had been waiting for, and THE BEST moment of my life!
