Laura and Michael
How We Met
Michael and I met the first week of our freshmen year of high school, back in September 2009. I was ice skating and recognized him from my faith class and immediately approached him and introduced myself. Later that night, I went up to him and asked if he remembered me. He said, “how could I forget someone this cute?” I am pretty sure I fell in love with him right there and then, but a few months went on until he asked me out on New Year’s Day as we were leaving a party. We dated for a year and sadly broke up, but years later back in 2015 we reconnected in Philadelphia running around the winter city and we figured out this was where we were always supposed to be.
How He Asked
We had been planning our trip to the Finger Lake, NY for months now. We planned to see as many state parks and waterfalls as possible during our short three-day stay. After we set up our tent at our camping site, we went on a small hike at Taughannock State Park where we had a perfect view of the huge waterfall from way up in the trees. We decided to put our stuff down and relax for a bit while we had the trail to ourselves, and every time I was ready to leave Michael would have me take more pictures and put flowers in my hair to stall time. I finally got up to keep walking, and he grabbed my hand and got on one knee. He was a nervous wreck and talking endlessly about the reasons he loves me so, but finally, he gathered up all his words and said my full name, told me how much he loves my family, our dog, and I, and he asked me to marry him. :-)
