Laura and Chris
How We Met
Chris and I met online (on eHarmony) while living in neighboring states.
How He Asked
After flying back and forth a few times each month for almost a year, to do the long-distance dating thing, we started talking about marriage. We both love adventure and traveling, and Chris had thought he would plan an elaborate proposal because of this. When Chris called his Mom to tell her that he would be proposing the next time we were together, she told him how his Father had proposed to her. Chris’ Dad died ten years ago, so when he heard the story, he said he immediately knew that he wanted his Dad to be a part of our special moment.
As we were sitting on the couch the following weekend, talking about the future and how to decorate our house, he pulled a ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him, just like his Dad had proposed many years earlier to his Mom. It was simple but very special. Although Chris will never be able to tell his Dad about our engagement, he felt like he was there with us in that moment…and that is far better than anything elaborate could have been.
