Kristin and Alex

How We Met

To say “a friend introduced us” doesn’t quite cover it. Both of us have been married before. In my previous marriage, I became close friends with the wife of my ex’s best friend. Of course when we divorced, I lost her – wasn’t easy to stay close in that situation. Many years later, my email account sent her spam! She replied to it saying she knew that I hadn’t actually emailed her, but she thought about me often and would love to reconnect. We met for dinner and it was just like old times. In the years apart, she had also divorced and now understood what I went through in losing both the marriage and my friends. I was so happy to have my friend back! About a month after we reconnected, she told me about a wonderful man she worked with… that he had recently divorced and she thought we would get along. I met her for happy hour and a group of her coworkers was there – including Alex. We talked for hours that afternoon and there was such a spark. Five days later we had our official first date and we have been inseparable ever since. God certainly blessed our broken roads.

How He Asked

Well, he proposed on “our bridge” (where we first said “I love you”!) at Universal Studios Orlando. But not just on any day – it was on the 2nd night of Halloween Horror Nights! Our friends caught it all on video and not only are we both wearing black and skulls, but there is the roar of chainsaws in the background! Sounds ridiculous, but it couldn’t have been more perfect for us. I was SO surprised, had absolutely no idea it was coming. I thought we were just taking photos in our favorite spot, like we always do. Alex had been planning on it for months, and once he had the ring in our house he really started to struggle – he isn’t good at “lying” or keeping secrets! Fortunately he only had to hide the ring for a week or so before our trip. It was the most perfect moment and I love that we have the video forever.
