Kim and Adam
How We Met: We met over 6 years ago through mutual friends in our home town. We saw each other a few times after that, but still kept in contact. Adam knew I was moving to South Florida to go to school, and he had asked me to come over and watch a movie. (I thought that was a little odd considering we usually hung out with groups of friends). So I moved away and Adam would come and visit and we would talk via Skype almost every night.
I had come back to see my parents and celebrate my 20th birthday and of course Adam was there to celebrate with me. We then went to Orlando and Adam finally asked me to be his girlfriend! Adam came to visit me in South Florida every weekend and we had Skype dates every night during the week! The weekend visits turned into long weekends, which then turned into week long stays. And then he never left… he moved down to South Florida and the rest is history!!!!
How He Asked: My family owns Sugar Mill Ruins Travel Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL. The campground was built 40 years ago by my late grandparents, Robert and Rita Beedle. This is where Adam finally popped the big question on December 6th, 2014 !
We had come into town for the annual Christmas party at the campgrounds, but little did I know something MUCH bigger was in store. I was told that on that Saturday morning my mom was putting on a Christmas brunch for her employees and that after my mom wanted to take family pictures for our Christmas cards. So that morning I woke up and my mom, sister, and ADAM told me to have my hair done and dressed up for the “family pictures.” Although I thought it was a little strange that everyone was so worried about me looking good for the pictures, I got dressed and got ready to go!
My mom, Patty, told us that we needed to go down a little before the brunch to help set up. Right as we were leaving she told us to go back to the lake, as there was a large rainstorm a few weeks prior and it had been completely flooded. We headed down to the campgrounds and then headed back to the lake… not knowing that this was the moment I had been waiting for, for quite sometime! (If you know ,e, you know I was ready for Adam to propose!)
When we got to the lake, there was a banner there and of course Adam wanted to go “see what it said” and as we walked to the front there was a picture of us and a quote that read….. “Love is patient, kind, humble, selfless, forgiving, & trustworthy, love never fails. Together anything is possible, Kimberly Ann….” and then Adam got down on one knee and POPPED the question!!!!
Not only did he pop the question, but he had Mark Dickinson, from Mark Dickinson Photography capture the entire thing!!
Not only was this a special moment for us, but it was a special moment for my grandparents. Although they were not there physically, they were there in spirit. Adam had picked the location of the proposal because my grandparents ashes are spread over the lake at the campgrounds.
December 6th, 2014 is a day we will remember forever!!!!
