Kerith and Andy
How We Met
Attending rival high schools, we just knew of each other. It wasn’t until almost 6 years later that he messaged me and asked me to dinner. We hit it off immediately! I was smitten by him, I know it’s corny but I was. I laughed all night. Never looking back, we started our future.
How He Asked
Andy’s family owns a tree farm in Richmond, Ohio, Double M Tree Farm. We had planned to go for the weekend to “help pick out his parents Christmas tree.” On Saturday, I spent the morning just in awe of the amount of trees (over 30,000) and the beautiful vast greenery. I knew his family put a lot of love into their farm. So many families were there cutting down their trees, making smores, and taking family photos. His mom said she had tagged the tree she liked, so we took off to cut it down. Andy’s grandmother is Serbian, and spent some time sprinkling holy water on the Serbian Spruce trees growing there at the farm. As we turn into the rows of Serbian Spruces, I see a single tree decorated with lights, ornaments and a tree topper. I paused in confusion, and suddenly heard our song (Russel Dickerson, “Yours,”) playing from his iPod and he gets down on one knee. I think both of us blacked out, neither remember what he said, but I hugged and kissed him before I even looked at the ring. I couldn’t wait to tell him “Yes!”
