Kenzie and Corbyn
How We Met
Corbyn and I lived in neighborhoods across from each other for the majority of our lives. We attended the same junior high, high school and even had the same group of friends. We became friends, very close friends, the summer before my junior year of college and have been inseparable ever since. We remained friends (although he swears he knew we were going to be together the moment we first hung out) until the end of the summer.
During our few months before I went back to college we quickly discovered that we were the boy/girl version of each other, as cheesy as that sounds. Our first kiss was in McCall,ID and it was explosive; neither of us had ever felt a spark quite like that. Before Corbyn and I even started dating, I told him to make sure my nails were painted before he asked me to marry him; I am not sure if I was being crazy, or just confident.
How He Asked
We planned a trip to McCall to stay at our friend, Braden’s, cabin about a month before we actually went. It was essentially a couples retreat with two of my best friends there as well, Sam and Hayden. We woke up Saturday morning to go to Brundage Ski Resort and one of my best friends since 2nd grade, Tori Schoonover and her boyfriend Gavin, came to see the ice sculpture at the top of the quad. Tori, Gavin, Corbyn and I road up on the lift together and we chatted about how much snow there was. We got to the top of the lift and all of my friends were in front of the train ice sculpture. Tori asked me to take a picture of her and Gavin and then we were told that Corbyn and I should take one next! Corbyn and I were giving our cheesiest smiles to the camera and then he walked around behind me and got on one knee.
He said my face looked completely dumbfounded. He told me how much he loved me and that he wanted to marry me and of course I said YES, with tears in my eyes! Cheers erupted in the background from my friends and random skiers alike.
