Kennedy and Josh

How We Met

Josh and I met on an app called Coffee Meets Bagel. We are both not outgoing and are not the type of people you would pin to use an app. He found it on Shark Tank and decided to give it a try. I had downloaded it because a friend told me to check it out. After connecting and talking on the app for a couple of days, Josh asked me if I’d like to meet in person and I was ecstatic and nervous. We had been talking on the app for several days, but I was unsure of who this man was and if I could completely trust him. He suggested meeting on Texas A&M campus, outside a building where we both had class. This made it so that we could walk to lunch together. I was waiting on a bench and saw him walking up in his Corps of Cadets uniform and I couldn’t help but think how handsome he was. We walked and talked all the way to and during lunch. After it was over I became nervous to leave because I didn’t want this to be the last time we spoke, but I needed to get back to class, so we said our goodbyes and went on our way. Maybe an hour later, I got a text from Josh telling me how much he enjoyed our lunch and that he hoped I did too. I knew at that point that something had already started between the two of us.

How He Asked

My graduation from Texas A&M University was on Saturday, the 17th and my roommate/best friend asked if I would go eat dinner with her to celebrate on the 16th. She said she wanted to take me somewhere nice so I needed to dress a little bit nicer than I would for one of our usual restaurants. The day of our dinner plans, I had a rough day at work and really just wanted to go home and watch Netflix…BUT I had already made plans with my roommate. So I went home and quickly changed into a nicer outfit and we got in the car to go. Before I knew what was happening, she was blindfolding me and telling me not to peek! At this point I was a little skeptical about what was happening, but I didn’t have enough information to form a guess.

As we were driving I continued trying to make her tell me where we were going. When we finally got to our destination, she told me to count to 10 and then remove the blindfold. After she told me this she started running so of course I got a little scared. I had no clue where I was and no idea what I was going to see when I removed the blindfold. I am glad that I trusted her because when I removed the blindfold, I saw Josh standing on the 50 yard line of Kyle Field in a suit, smiling at me.

At that point I was in complete shock and extremely excited for what was happening.

When I reached him, he told me how much he loved me and that he couldn’t imagine experiencing the rest of his life without me.

He got down on one knee, he pulled my Great Great Great Grandmother’s engagement ring from his coat pocket. He asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!!! After I said yes, I turned around and both of our families and a few friends we’re waiting for us in the stands. The tunnel I walked out of onto the field was right underneath them and I didn’t even notice until after he proposed!

After taking a few pictures and sharing lots of hugs and congratulations, we got in the car and went to a surprise engagement party that he had also planned! The day was a whirlwind and I will always remember it as one of my favorite days. It’s the day I said yes to spending forever with my best friend.
