Kelsey and Ryan
How We Met
I lived in Ohio my entire life, 21 years, and in August of 2014 I decided to move to Florida to participate in the Disney College Program. I planned on only being here one semester and then moving home. I never would have imagined meeting anyone, let alone the man of my dreams. We both worked for Disney and happened to meet one day by chance. We texted every second of every single day when we first met, we literally would finish each other’s sentences and had a scary amount of things in common. We finally went on our first date, at the Magic Kingdom, we were so nervous we could barely even look at each other. The next thing I know, we are spending every day together and became closer than I ever would have imagined. I ended up staying another semester in Florida, but in May, only after 6 months of dating, I had to move back to Ohio. We promised to make it work until I finished school in a year and was able to move back to Florida. It honestly felt like I was missing a piece of myself, and everyone could tell I was miserable. So after only 3 months of being long distance, I packed everything I could into my car and moved back to Florida, where we moved in together. And the rest is history!
How He Asked
We both love to travel, and one thing we promised each other we would do is to travel together as often as we could. So we started thinking of places for our next trip, and neither of us have ever been to Paris or Barcelona, and they were high up on our bucket lists, so we thought why not?! We planned the entire trip in only two months; flights, hotels, tours, everything. The farthest we have traveled together before this was to the Bahamas, so we were so excited to experience Europe together. We wanted to make the most out of this trip, so I planned everything out for each day, literally down to the hour. Ryan’s sister and her boyfriend actually planned a trip to Paris the same time as us, overlapping ours for two days! So our first day there, as soon as we got to our hotel, we planned to head to the Eiffel Tower to all take pictures together, since it would be our only day in Paris all together, since we were spending the entire next day at Disneyland Paris. We had tickets to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower at 8pm, so beforehand we went across the street to Tracadero, the perfect Eiffel Tower picture spot in my opinion, to take some pictures and explore. There were so many people around because it was pretty late in the afternoon at this point, so we were walking all around to find the perfect picture spot. We came across a ledge that had the perfect view of the tower and not too many people around, so we started snapping pictures. When it was Ryan and I’s turn we went up on the ledge and started taking tons of pictures. He yelled “Look at that car!” And I turned away from him toward the road to see what he was talking about (good distraction right? Haha). When I turn back around, after seeing nothing, he’s down on one knee and grabbing my hand. “I knew I wanted to spend forever with you the second I met you, will you be my wife Kelsey Lee?” I had no idea he was going to propose to me, but he made this trip so special, and now, we’ll always have Paris.
