Kelsey and Dominic
How We Met
Dominic and I met in an ethics class at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. I played soccer and he played football, so we knew who each other were, but never really talked. In class, I immediately noticed his witty comments and sarcastic personality and wanted to get to know him better. I was one month away from graduating and had a party at my house. I was starting to think about Dom more and told one of my roommates to text him to come over for the party. He came over with some of his roommates and the rest is history. We talked the entire night and knew we had something special. We ended up spending every second of my last month in Helena together. I was, however, skeptical that it would work because I was starting a 2 year graduate program at UW in Seattle and he still had 2 years left at Carroll. We are both from Seattle and on May 20, 2013 we spent an amazing day at Alki Beach. He was leaving the next day to head back for football, but decided (at a park and ride) to try and make things work. 2 years later he moved back to Seattle and we’ve been inseparable ever since!
How He Asked
The week leading up to the big day, Dom had mentioned that he wanted to go to dinner with his family because it was his dad’s birthday (his dad passed away when he was 6 and we always celebrate). We had plans to meet at a nice restaurant on Alki Beach, Salty’s, and decided to get there a little early to walk on the waterfront. On the drive over, he started to talk about our first date in Seattle at Alki and how memorable that day was, nearly 4 years ago! I thought that was a little odd, but tried not to start thinking that he might pop the question. We started walking and he asked if I wanted to take a picture…. Then he turned to me and said “I wanted to make this day a little more special” and got down one knee.
I was shocked and don’t even remember what he said, but I do know he ask me to marry him and put the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen in my entire life on finger. The next surprised came walking down the hill- he hired a photographer who captured the whole moment for us! It was the most surreal and happiness day of my life and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and love!
