Kayla and Joseph
How We Met
Joseph and I have known each other since we were in middle school! He played baseball in the same league as my older brother and our parents worked together on the little league board when putting on the baseball/softball games! Our families even went camping together a few times when we were younger. Little did I know I would be engaged to that cute boy who I kicked in the shin and made bleed one time! Joseph and I reconnected after we both finished high school (he slid into my messages on Facebook😂). We went on our first date and have been inseparable ever since!
How He Asked
We were together for three years when Joseph asked if we could go look at rings together one day. I was so shocked but was also so excited! We both picked out different style rings that we liked but ended up picking a ring out together that had both of our styles in mind! I didn’t know it at the time but he went back and bought that ring the very next day! He held onto that ring for an entire year before he proposed! Here’s the kicker…I actually found out about the ring around Christmas time. Joseph accidentally spilled the beans and I was so surprised! I hadn’t seen what it looked like nor did I know when it would happen.
I just knew that we were getting ready to take that next BIG step in our relationship. Joseph was getting ready to start his dream job and we were so excited for him! His mom, sister and I decided to throw him a big party to celebrate! We invited all of our friends and family! As the night went on, Joseph got ready to make a speech and thank everyone for coming. He called me up to the front for what I assumed was to help with the toast. Once his speech got towards the end and the thank yous for everyone’s support started being directed at me, he reached into his pocket and got down on a knee! IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. That was so unlike Joseph! He is usually pretty shy but I was so shocked and loved everything about the proposal! I was so happy to say YES to marrying this man and especially happy to have all of our friends and family there to celebrate with us!
