Katie and Justin
How We Met
Justin Isaac Spinks swept me off of my feet on July 27, 2014. We met through a mutual friend, and it was definitely like at first sight (at least for me it was). We were introduced at Railroad Park in Birmingham, and Justin took me on our first date two weeks later. He picked me up from my apartment in Tuscaloosa, and then we went to Cypress Inn where neither one of us could eat a thing because we were so nervous. We then walked down by the River Walk with frozen yogurt in our hands. We sat on a bench by the river and talked about what a Christ-centered relationship looks like. Later that night, Justin walked me to my front door and attempted to kiss my cheek. I kind of shocked him and turned my face so he would have to kiss my lips. Bold, right? That is most definitely his favorite part of the story.
How He Asked
Justin proposed to me on October 25, 2015. He and my roommates decorated a gazebo in a local Tuscaloosa neighborhood for four hours so it would be absolutely perfect, and believe me, it was. The proposal was everything I could have ever dreamed of. Justin took me out to dinner and asked if I wanted to go look at Halloween decorations in The Townes neighborhood. Slightly confused by this strange request, I reluctantly agreed. After we drove through the neighborhood, we came to a stop in front of a gazebo that was in the middle of a field. As we got out, the photographer switched the breaker, and the whole gazebo lit up. It was absolutely stunning. Justin then took my hand and walked me up the steps of the gazebo; he prayed over our marriage and our future. I could not have dreamed of anything better. He then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. There was also a table with a picture of us, flowers, a candle and a bible. My heart was absolutely melted by the evident time and effort that went into this proposal. After we admired the beautiful gazebo, we then drove to my house where 50+ people awaited us, along with Justin’s family and mine. It was, without a doubt, the best day of my life.
