Katelyn and Nick
Nick and I met in June 2011. We worked together in the service department of a car dealership. He’s a certified Ford technician. I was a cashier/ receptionist.
He moved from Johnstown, PA to Johnson City, TN. I’m from Bristol, TN. I instantly had a crush.
He was sweet, funny and smart. He would do anything for anyone and never expect anything in return. He had muscles and tattoos. Every time I brought my son, Ellis, in he wanted to talk to him.
We were nothing more than friends for almost a year. April 2012 we decided we should take a swing at dating promising we wouldn’t let work interfere.
Our first date we went to Sonic and the dirt track. I joked that I was a cheap date. It was my first dirt track experience. We had a great time! We’ve been inseparable since. The first time he touched my hand I knew we would be together forever.
He later said he knew then too. My life changed instantly. All the stress and overwhelming feelings of being a single mother were gone in a flash.
I knew I would marry Nick from day 1.
May 9, 2014 was supposed to be warm, sunny and plum perfect for a 4th Circus birthday party for Ellis Patrick. It was not warm nor was it sunny so we moved that party inside. There were a few kids and a ton of adults. Mr. Bill and his piano playing dog, Bodie, came to entertain the kids. He did magic, the kids danced, he told jokes, they blew bubbles, he made balloon animals and it was pure chaos.
By the time the show was over everyone was starving and impatient. Everyone quickly got their food. After we all ate Ellis opened his presents. Soon after most of the kids and their parents had left. After presents we ate cake. I fixed Ellis’ plate and drink and followed him to where he wanted to sit.
As I was doing so Nick called him into the bedroom. There was so much going on and so many people in our house that I really didn’t think anything of it. When they came back I was talking to my friends. Nick calls my name and asks if I would like an early Mother’s Day gift.
Of course I said yes! Nobody turns down early presents. I saw Ellis with his little hands closed tight in front of him. There was a moment or two of pure suspense. I knew I wanted him to propose but I was afraid to get my hopes up. He instructed Ellis to open his little hands and there it was.
I instantly started crying. Which was a first for me. I had never shed happy tears before then. Nick laughed and asked, “Will you marry me?” in front of my entire family and my closest friends. I could only nod. By this time I was bawling.
Everyone was as surprised as I was! He hadn’t told anyone except my Daddy. June 13, 2015 I will finally finally finally be Mrs. Nicholas Alexander Keklak!!!!
