Wedding Proposal Ideas in Disneyland

How We Met

A common thread between AJ and I is our shared love for electronic music. We were introduced by mutual friends at a concert held at the Gorge Amphitheater in September 2011. I was actually on a date with his friend, who I had gone to high school with. I always saw AJ posting online about the events that I was going to, and we became fast friends, chatting about music all night long while I studied at Gonzaga University, about four hours away from him in Seattle.

We were surprised to find that we had grown up a mere two miles away from one another in Issaquah, Washington. Because I had gone to Catholic school, AJ and I never crossed paths even though we would have gone to the same schools our entire lives.

In the summer of 2012, after the better part of a year of talking about music and becoming the best of friends, AJ told me that he had feelings for me for a long time. I realized that our friendship was more meaningful than I had ever imagined, and we went on our first date on the first night of the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. By the end of the weekend, the rest was history!

How He Asked

AJ and I planned a trip to Disneyland in March 2017 for my birthday with some of our closest friends that live in Southern California. This was the first time that we had visited a Disney park together, and were incredibly thrilled to spend time with our dear friends in the happiest place on earth! The weekend was filled with many laughs, dozens of sugary treats, and many trips to the Haunted Mansion (my favorite ride). Prior to our trip, AJ asked me if there was anything I would like to do on my actual birthday (the last day of our trip) in the park, and I said that I would love to get a caricature drawn of the two of us. That morning, we rode the Alice in Wonderland teacups and then headed to New Orleans square for our caricature.

When the painting was complete and our amazing artist showed us the final result, I was in complete shock! I began to cry as AJ quoted one of my favorite books, “The Little Prince,” and proposed to me in front of a crowd of onlookers.

Kat and AJ's Engagement in Disneyland

Without a moment’s hesitation I accepted his proposal, as he is the man of my dreams!
