Kassidy and Dallin
How We Met
I met Dallin in the 7th grade, when he skateboarded up to me and said “do you want to hang out?” I said “no.” :)
Fast forward 7 years of friendship. I said “yes”. We dated, and then wrote while separated for 2 years, both of us serving LDS missions in different parts of the country. When Dallin returned home, we knew we would be married.
How He Asked
Dallin and I really wanted the best quality photos for our engagement. The photographer that I really wanted was only available right then or booked until July, and we wanted to be married by the end of summer. So without even being engaged, I set up a photoshoot. Thinking, “if we get engaged soon, we will use these. If not, we got some great photos out of it.”
On the way to the shoot, Dallin kept going on about wanting to talk more with my parents, and make sure getting married was the right thing. We shot at one location, then we moved to the foothills for sunset. We hiked an enormous hill, and our photographer (Lyndi) took a few shots and then said softly, “okay, Dallin, we’re good.” Dallin pulled away and said, “Kass, I have to apologize. I lied to you about something.” I was thinking “this is a bad time to start an argument.”
He said, “I talked to your parents.” Then he knelt on one knee, and the gold sunset hit him perfectly, and he asked “will you marry me?”
In complete surprise and overjoy, I said yes. I dropped to my knees, and both of us in tears, held each other until the sun went down.
Dallin knew that photos would be the most important thing to me, so he coordinated with the best photographer, and made it the most special night of my life.
