Kasey and Byro
How We Met: I work at Starbucks and one of my co-workers is an intern at a local church in town. She had mentioned this guy who was in her internship program and said we should meet and date each other. I went to church on Saturday night last January to hear her preach, and there I met Byron. He was awkward, and had a mustache and I made it very clear I wasn’t interested in any relationships. A few months passed and Lindsay talked to me about him and his thoughts about me, and I was intrigued and invited him that night to come to my house for family game night. He then suckered me into playing softball with the church so he could spend more time with me, and two weeks later he asked me out. We became best friends, fell in love, and now we’re getting married!
How He Asked: Byron took me on the “trip of a lifetime” to Seattle, Washington to meet some of his family. We both love to travel and go on adventures together, so this wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. On Thursday, April 16th, we went up to Mount Vernon for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. We left the car and he brought a hoodie with him, “just incase it got chilly outside”, even though it was 65 degrees out. We were walking around the fields, talking and laughing and taking pictures of the beautiful fields of flowers. He suggested that we take a picture together. So we stopped in a field of white tulips, which are my favorite color of flowers, and we asked some strangers to take our picture. He then proceeded to tell me to look at the picture and see what was in it. There I saw the box in his right hand. He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. We said “I love you” for the first time in the year we had been together, as he was waiting until he proposed so he would only say it to his wife. It was one of the most magical moments of my entire life.
