Karlie and Allen

How we met

I actually met Allen through his little sister, Katie. I never considered him more than a friend because he was just my friend’s big brother. It wasn’t until two years later that we reconnected at a Super Bowl Sunday party. All it took was a simple conversation for me to realize the connection that I immediately felt. I went home and couldn’t stop talking about “Katie’s brother” and that’s when I had my very own “Clueless” moment… You know, the moment that she finally realizes “Oh my god, I love Josh. I majorly, totally, butt-crazy, totally in love with Josh!” Ever since then, we’ve been inseparable.

How he asked

I had been dreaming of escaping the hustle and bustle of our daily lives by going up to the mountains for a relaxing get-away. I had asked Allen many times if we could make this happen but his golf schedule always seem to intervene. It wasn’t until a few months later that my friend Meaghan asked us to go on a weekend getaway with her and her husband. Little did I know that it was really Allen planning it all. The night before we were set to leave for out weekend getaway, Allen had to work, so a few of my friends invited me to a girls night. Our conversations were flowing… and so were the martinis. Suddenly, I got a text from Allen, apologizing that he wouldn’t be able to make it up to Idyllwild like we originally planned. Although I understood why, I was extremely disappointed. As you can imagine, I was upset with him. To add insult to injury, I realized I had a few too many martinis and wasn’t feeling my best the next day. So we left up to Idyllwild to have lunch, without Allen. After lunch, my friend Gary, who’s an electrician, asked if we could make a pit stop at a construction site for one of his clients.

Once there, they asked me to check out the view from the other side of the road. This happened to be an amazing view of the valley and mountains in Idyllwild, but there was something that was out of place, someone standing on a rock at the bottom of the hill. When I got closer, I realized it was Allen.

As a big fan of the Bachelor, I couldn’t help but feel like I was on the show and getting the final rose. He finally turned around when I got closer to the rock and asked me to join him. I wish I could tell you I remember what he said, but all I remember is his beautiful eyes tearing up as he looked deep into mine and then BOOM!

He was down on his knee, saying those four words that you dream of your whole life. Of course, I said yes! Seconds later, I noticed his sister and brother-in-law, hiding in the bushes taking photos (they are photographers).

Although that was perfect, something still was missing. My sister wasn’t there. Once we checked into our cabin, walked in the door, my sister, niece, and brother-in-law were there to surprise me!

Not only that, but Allen surprised me with the rest of my family and friends at dinner that night. It was a perfect night!
