Karissa and Jared's Super Sweet Beach Proposal
How We Met
Jared and I met at Northwest church in Fresno CA. He was the new “hot” Junior High pastor and I was a new junior high leader. At first I didn’t like him because everyone thought he was super good looking, and I thought he was really into himself. I got over that pretty quick, and as the years went by, we developed a brother sister bond that we maintained for about two years. After a while however, Jared kept on texting and seeing me more, and you could say I didn’t mind. We spent a lot of time together during the summer of 2014 and on October 23rd, I agreed to date him and then one month later on November 23rd, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. Once we started dating we knew we would end up getting married and then on October 24th, 2015 he asked me to marry him.
How He Asked
The process of the proposal began right when we started dating. I new that I was going to marry her so I began planning from the beginning. Every time we went somewhere, I saved the receipt of where we went. So by the time I proposed, I had 11 months worth of receipts from all the places we had gone. I decided early on that I wanted to make her a photo book that would contain all of our months of dating. Each month had it’s own page so from month 1 to month 11, I had pictures, receipts, and a letter that described what we did that month. I made an audio recording of me reading the book to her so she could listen to it as she read along. Now the challenge came of finding out how and when to do it. Her best friend and I had been planning since march that we were going to do it on her birthday weekend. This would be the best way to keep it hidden because she wouldn’t be suspicious since it was going to be a girls weekend. So the plan was set to propose while she was away with her friends. I told her I was going to be at Six Flags all weekend so she wouldn’t be suspicious. As it turned out, I was only at Six Flags for one day and then me and two of the guys from our youth group left on Saturday to go set up at Cayucos. We made a heart in the sand and then hung mason jars from hooks and had sunflowers (her favorite) in the mason jars. There was a chair for her to sit in with one table in front and one right beside her. The table in front had mason jars that had sunflowers and then a sign that said “Forever and Always” with an LED K and J on each of the sign. On the other table was the photo book and my laptop.
Along the outside of the heart were pictures of us hanging from twine from all months we had been dating. Once we were set up, we waited for her and her friends to show up and once she arrived, her friend took her to sit down and she read through the book.
When she finished, I walked up to her and said….
I hope you know how much I love you. You are so loving, kind, patient, understanding, loyal, forgiving, smart, funny and most of all, beautiful. My relationships never made since until I met you. I never knew how much I could love someone until I met you. I look back and realize you are the reason that nothing worked out. All the heartbreaks and break-ups were worth it because it lead to you. You are far more than I deserve and I am so lucky to have you in my life. As you know, your name means a gift from God and you are the best gift I have ever been given. I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I thank God that I did. There are some things in life I am uncertain about, but one thing I am absolutely certain of is that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You and me, forever and always. Karissa Joy Fuller, will you marry me?”
Once she said yes, she turned around to find her small group girls and her friends screaming and crying in excitement. So on October 24th, 2015 she agreed to be Mrs. Carl and #thecarlfamjustgotfuller
