Kallie and Eric

How We Met

Eric and I met through wrestling, an unlikely place to find love but it worked for us. We both graduated from the same high school but at different times so we didn’t cross paths until Eric was coaching wrestling and my little brother was on the team. I would go to the matches with my family to support my bother but couldn’t help but notice Eric. After one big match, we all went to the local bar in our town, where Eric and I were introduced. We ended up talking the whole night. The other coaches were giving Eric a hard time about not leaving my side.

At the end of the night, I still wasn’t finished with my dinner so Eric ate the rest of it and asked for my number. This was very telling of our future relationship because Eric still finishes my dinners when I can’t. After that night Eric asked me on our first date to a Philadelphia Flyers Game. I knew after that date that Eric was going to be a very important person in my life, maybe even the one. We continued to talk on the phone and spend as much time together as we could. We started dating after two months and have been together ever since!

How He Asked

For my birthday Eric surprised me with a trip to Walt Disney World, I planned for months trying to make the trip special for Eric. Little did I know he was planning to make it special for me. We spent a perfect day in the Magic Kingdom with no lines, delicious food, and later relaxed at the resort. That night we had dinner reservations at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue and of course, we were running late because of me. When we finally got there we had front row seats to the dinner show, I was so excited. At the end of the show, I got pulled on stage to be the can-can dancer and I thought my day couldn’t get any better than this.

After dinner we planned to go my favorite resort, the Grand Floridian to see the life-size gingerbread house and Christmas decorations. It had been a great but long day and I was tired, I almost made us go back to our hotel but Eric insisted that he go. After a short ride to the resort, we were standing in the gorgeous lobby and in front of the gingerbread house. Eric asked me to take his picture in front of the gingerbread house which was odd as he doesn’t like getting his picture taken but I thought nothing of it. As soon as I was about to take his picture Eric got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Through tears, I said yes!! After the tears stopped and I gave him a big hug and kiss Eric told me to turn around and look up. Confused, I turned to see my Mom, Dad, and two brothers whooping and hollering in the balcony of the hotel. I had NO idea they were going to be there let alone in Disney. For months my family and Eric hid that the most important people in my life were going to be there when the love of my life asked me to be his wife. It was so special I couldn’t stop crying tears of joy. It was the perfect begging to our happily ever after!
