Kalie and Tyler

Wedding Proposal Ideas in Oahu, Hawaii

How We Met

I met Tyler five years ago when I was 17 he was 18. I got my first job at the local ice rink making coffee and he was my shift manager! A few months after I started he quit and went to a new job, I took over his positions and would text him to ask any questions I had. After a while those questions turned into regular conversations. He started to come in and visit me at work almost everyday and finally he asked me out. A month later we made it official and have been together ever since, though college, and new jobs he has always stuck by me and supported me, I couldn’t ask for a better person to do life with.

Marriage Proposal Ideas in Oahu, Hawaii

How He Asked

We went on a vacation with my family to Oahu, HI. We left new years day and were staying for a week! I was hoping he would propose, and every good opportunity I would start to get excited. As the trip went on and it still hadn’t happened and I was kind of upset, I figured he had another plan and wasn’t proposing this trip. On Friday morning our second to last day, we woke up super early because everyone had planned to go see the memorial at Pearl Harbor. I was getting ready and Tyler was up and ready so fast and kept bugging me to hurry. Finally, I was ready and he said “while we wait for your family lets go down and walk on the beach to see the sunrise.” I was hesitant because I didn’t hear the rest of my family up and I said I wanted to wake them so we would make sure we had time to get to the memorial. Little did I know everyone was waiting for the proposal!

He finally convinced met to just wait and go on a walk. We walked all along the beach and went to a rocky overlook over the ocean. I started taking pictures of the sunrise when he turned me around and started his speech with, “So…” in that moment I knew what was happening and started crying I barely remember what he even said but I definitely remember when he asked me to marry him!

I was so excited he had to remind me to put the ring on!

Then I noticed my brother (who used to be a photographer) come out from hiding and taking pictures. We met up with the rest of my family for mimosas to celebrate, It was the best day of my life so far!
