Kaleigh and Jordan's Fishing Proposal
How we met: Jordan and I grew up in small neighboring towns in Washington State. We didn’t meet till fall of 2010 when Jordan was 18 and I was 19. At the time, I was going to college to be a paralegal and working as a receptionist at the local gym in Jordan’s hometown. Jordan had graduated shortly before and was working for a construction company and volunteering at the local fire department. Jordan was a member at the gym I worked at we would always make eye contact with each other and then look away. I was so nervous around him so I would always avoid him. I figured I didn’t have a chance with him. Now I know he was feeling the same way. We both were always too nervous to make the first move! To this day, Jordan will try to tell you I made the first move, but it was the other way around. Our mutual friend, Kyle, ultimately introduced us to each other and Jordan took me to our first date the next day. From that moment on, we were inseparable and spent every moment we possibly could together. We fell in love right away and I moved in with him 2 short months later! Everyone thought we were crazy at the time but we didn’t care. We were happy and in love. Now everyone can’t imagine us apart. We do everything together to this day and I am so blessed to have Jordan in my life. I love him with all my heart.
How he asked: My parents and many of our family friends have property all along a beautiful remote lake in eastern Washington state. Every year our family and friends spend many vacations together at this amazing place. Anyone who has been there knows how special it truly is. It was a typical Saturday evening during our August vacation at the lake. Everyone was hanging out and enjoying themselves on the beach. Jordan had asked if I wanted to go fishing with him and I of course said “yes.” As we were getting the boat and the fishing gear together our friends from around the lake started showing up at our property. Jordan and I got in the fishing boat and Jordan took us a short distance from the shore and put the anchor in the water. I was somewhat confused as to why he choose this location since this was not a typical fishing spot of ours. The sunset was absolutely beautiful and I was so happy to just be fishing alone with him. Jordan then started putting bait on my fishing line. What I didn’t know at the time is Jordan was tying my ring to the end of my fishing line with another line connected from the ring to his seat in the boat! He then put my “bait” in the water and we sat and waited for the fish. After a couple minutes I felt my fishing line tug as if I caught a fish but I didn’t reel in my line. Shortly after, my fishing line was tugging really hard as if I had caught a huge fish so I quickly reeled in the line and was completely shock when I saw a diamond ring at the end! Jordan got down on his knee and asked me the question. I was so excited! As you can see from the video, I was completely shocked.
It was the best moment ever and the best part was having my favorite people on the beach there to witness it all. It is by far the best day of my life and it couldn’t of been any more perfect. Jordan, his best friend, and my dad had planned it all themselves. No one knew Jordan was going to propose that day besides them. Ten or so minutes before Jordan and I had went fishing, my dad had gone to our friend’s properties to tell them to come to our beach because “Jordan wanted them there.” When Jordan and I were in the boat, my dad had to keep telling my mom “watch your daughter” and my mom started to catch on what was happening. It was so special to have my parents, brother, aunt, uncle, cousins and many friends there to enjoy that moment with us. My family adores Jordan and he really earned some extra points that day!
