Kaitlyn and Bronson
How We Met
Bronson and I met October 2015 during my sophomore year of college. I had a class with one of my friends who said her boyfriend’s cousin had an extra ticket to see Taylor Swift in Atlanta that weekend and invited me to come along. When I met Bronson on the night of the concert I had this feeling he would be something special. When I got home that night I told my roommate Lauren all about him and that I really wanted him to be my boyfriend one day. Fast forward a couple days later and the same friend invited me to Bronsons for Halloween. We ended up spending our Halloween night watching moves and talking all night long. We’ve been inseparable ever since that night!
How He Asked
A week prior to the proposal, my Mamaw unexpectedly passed away. Bronson had been planning this day for a few weeks, and after talking to my family decided my Mamaw would be so mad at him if he had postponed the date! All week long we had been talking about taking our puppy Piper on a hike to the reservoir at my alma mater Berry College. The hike was beautiful and the weather was as cool as it could be for early fall in Georgia but we tried our best to beat the heat. The way up to the res was full of laughing at Piper playing in the creek near the Mill, running, and talking. We made it to the res and went to our usual spot by the water. We took Piper off her leash and spent a few minutes watching her play before we sat down. Bronson then said that he knows my Mamaw was always my go-to person and while she would always be there in spirit, he wanted to be my go-to person forever.
He took me by the hand to help me stand up then got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was completely shocked but so thrilled. He then told me he had talked to my Mamaw and she knew today he would be proposing and that she was so excited. He also told me he believes my Poppy, who we lost this past Thanksgiving, needed her in heaven to watch this moment together.
Once I thought the surprise was over, I look up to see our best friends Allie and Ryan walking down the path towards us! We then spent the rest of the day celebrating with our families. After a week of such loss I was reminded that sometimes life is about dancing in the midst of the storm.
