Kaitlin and Dan
How We Met
It was a Friday night and I was meeting up with friends at a local bar. I arrived earlier than my friends so I went in to get a drink. I was standing in the doorway between rooms watching a hockey game when Dan came up to me and started chatting. Usually, I would never talk to a stranger at a bar when I was alone but I noticed that he seemed genuine and had worked up a lot of courage to come up to me. He told me he had also come with friends and we talked for a while before my friends arrived. When I told him I would be leaving to meet up with them, he asked for my number so we could meet up later. We met back up later that night and talked until the bar closed. The next day he texted me and asked me out on our first date. We’ve been inseparable ever since.
How He Asked
A few weeks before the proposal, Dan asked me if I would like to take a trip to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. He thought it would be a fun weekend trip. Since we both had our passports and it was only took a couple hours to drive up, I said why not! We decided to go over Easter weekend since we both had a long weekend away from work. When we got up to Canada on Friday, we dropped off our bags and went right to the falls. We walked around and took pictures for a little while before Dan told me he wanted to explore the area. We walked into a beautiful park across the street from the falls. As we walked, we approached a statue where Dan told me to wait. He pulled an Easter egg out of the backpack he had been carrying which said “December 2015”.
Inside the egg was a picture of us from Christmas of that year. We continued walking through the park, Dan continued to stop me along the way giving me a new egg with an old memory. He had an egg for every month we had been together for a grand total of 25. The last egg read “April 2017”. He told me this one would work a little differently. When he opened the egg up, it had the ring inside. He dropped to one knee to ask me to be his wife.
